NICAN TLACA COLLECTIVE IDENTITY Mexican And Mexican American Colonial Era Identity Of Resistance, Power And Liberation For The 21st Century And Beyond.    The term Nican Tlaca means “people here” and it is derived from the Nahuatl language. Nahuatl means  “to speak clearly”, “to speak intelligently”.Nahuatl is the language of the Nahuas, an ethnic group from which the Mexica are part of. Nican Tlaca referred to the original inhabitants of the Valley of Mexico that is also known as the Basin of Mexico - the heart of Anahuac where the great City of Mexico-Tenochtitlan was founded in 1325 along with numerous city-states who were also of the Nahuatl speaking family or Nahuatlaca “Nahuatl speaking people” . Nican Tlaca as a term and its implications as an identity has been a part of historical records and documentation throughout the 1500s and early 1600s. MEXICA CULTURAL IDENTITY VS. CULTURAL APPROPRIATION _____________________________________________ MEXICA CULTURAL IDENTITY The Mexica were one of the last and greatest civilizations of Anahuac. Their power and cultural influence was extended and understood throughout what is falsely known as North America and especially in what today is known as Mexico. Ancient Mexico has been the lifeline, and the heart of our existence from which we the people here descend from. Historically, we have always been connected as a people, not just genetically but through a collective Nican Tlaca ( Indigenous ) culture. Along with our common experiences we have also experienced a common enemy known as Colonialism. Our Mexica cultural identity undoubtedly is the inescapable historical foundation for understanding our pre 1521 Mesoamerican history and Anahuaca people based on the Olmec and Teotihuacan cultural influence and Mexica hegemony. PROGRAM OF RE-EDUCATION  Through Anahuac education we develop the courage, the love, and skills to recreate ourselves in a positive way to become lifelong students, visionaries and teachers for the future of our Anahuac nation. This education of decolonization aims to reveal the root problem of the injustices and colonial oppression that has dehumanized and traumatized our Anahuac people throughout the centuries and continues to do so. The injustices of poverty, inequality, violence on both state and domestic levels, drug abuse, gang violence, human trafficking, lack of basic human needs, lack of education, health care and land theft all stem out of colonialism. Through Anahuac Education we can begin to tackle these issues with an understanding of where they derive from and with an understanding of who we are as a people and our ultimate goal for Anahuac liberation.     ___________________________________________________________________________________ TLACAHUAP
