THE 4 DIRECTIONS

    



THE FOUR DIRECTIONS AND THE EMBODIMENT OF CREATION.

This image is a representation of the 5th age and its creative components of the cosmic forces with the gift of life and death. 

At the core of our universe generating and conceiving is the sacred symbol of our beloved Mother Omecihuatl (Lady of Duality) who is also known as Tonacacihuatl (Lady of our Flesh) and our beloved Father Ometecuhtli (Lord of Duality) who is also known as Tonacatecuhtli (Lord of our Flesh). Together they are Ometeotl (Sacred Duality), Ipalnemohuani (Giver of Life) and Tloque Nahuaque (Lord of the Near).

The volcanic stone face in the center is a Mexica, life and death figure. Throughout the cycles of creation life and death have been and continue to be the essence of our existence. Both are a product of sustenance and renewal. Mictlantecuhtli (Lord of the Dead / Lord of the Underworld) and Quetzalcoatl (Precious Feather Serpent) representing life are shown here with the 4 - directions that are also representative of the 4 - ages prior to our 5th age in which we are now in.

After the end of the 4th age Nahui Atl (4 Water), Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl proceeded to create the 5th age Nahui Ollin (4 Movement). Tezcatlipoca was and is the invisible hand, the omnipresent cosmic force and manifestation of all 4 - creations including our 5th age after defeating Cipactli from whom the earth was created.

Quetzalcoatl, giver of life, knowledge and wisdom descended upon Mictlan (the Underworld) which consists of 9 levels met with Mictlantecuhtli (Lord of the Dead, of the Underworld) to collect the precious bones of preceding ancestors from the 4th age. With these bones (matter) and with the blood (life force) humanity was thus created.

It was then through life and death that we as humans were born to populate the earth of the 5th age Nahui Ollin, (4 Movement) - our 5th and current world).


OMNIPOTENT TEZCATLIPOCA AND THE FOUR DIRECTIONS 

RED TEZCATLIPOCA

1st Direction: East - where Totatzin Tonatiuh rises.Totatzin Tonatiuh (Our Beloved Father Sun Who Rises). Where the warrior men who died in battle accompany the Sun from sunrise until the time that it reaches the zenith.

Name: Xipe Totec (Flayed One).

Element: Atl (Water). 

Glyph: Acatl (Reed).     

Animal Symbol: Zolin (Quail).

Attributes: Sacred embodiment of life rising from the dead; renewal, regeneration, transformation, fertility and liberation.

Association: Tlaloc (Wine of the earth).

4th Creation: Nahui Atl (4 Water).

Destruction: Destroyed by water.


BLACK TEZCATLIPOCA

2nd Direction: North - Region of Mictlan (The Underworld).

Name: Tezcatlipoca (Smoking Mirrors / Reflecting Smoke).

Element: Tlalli (Earth).   

Glyph: Tecpatl (Flint Knife).

Animal Symbol: Ocelotl (Jaguar)

Attributes: Creator of the earth, omnipotent, lord of night, cosmic shadow, order & chaos, master of human destiny, art of war. 

Association: Tepeyollotl, Mixcoatl.  

1st Creation: Naui Ocelotl (4 Jaguar).

Destruction: Destroyed by earthquake.


WHITE TEZCATLIPOCA

3rd Direction: West - Where the sun sets to begin its journey into the underworld.

Name: Quetzalcoatl (Precious Feathered Serpent).

Element: Ehecatl (Wind).

Glyph: Calli (House/Temple).

Animal Symbol: Feathered Serpent.

Attributes: Creator of humanity, knowledge, wisdom, balance & discipline.

Association: Xolotl.

2nd Creation: Nahui Ehecatl (4 Wind).

Destruction: Destroyed by wind.


BLUE TEZCATLIPOCA

4th Direction: South

Name: Huitzilopochtli (Hummingbird of the left/of the south) 

Element: Tlachinolli (Fire).

Glyph: Tochtli (Rabbit).

Animal Symbol: Cuauhtli (Eagle)

Attribute: Will power, warfare, rebirth.

Association: Tonatiuh (He who shines).

3rd Creation: Nahui Quiahuitl (4 Rain)

Destruction: Destroyed by rain of fire.
